Please join us in a very special History at Night presentation featuring our previous Site Manager: Bryan McAuley!
Mr. McAuley became the Site Manager of San Felipe de Austin in 2008, following the initial transfer of historic sites from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department to the THC as part of the 2007 Legislative session. The San Felipe de Austin project became the first ground-up development in the THC system following the transfer. Initially, Mr. McAuley and site staff occupied the former Josey Store Museum building during the decade of planning that resulted in the modern visitor center (2018). During that decade, Mr. McAuley assisted in a variety of public and private campaigns with the Friends of the San Felipe de Austin State Historic Site, Friends of the Texas Historical Commission, and a wide variety of stakeholders and contributing partners to reclaim this nearly forgotten story and make it a preservation-and-promotion success story for the Texas Historical Commission.
Come join Mr. McAuley and the staff of San Felipe de Austin State Historic Site as we congratulate him on his promotion to Assistant Division Director, Historic Site Operations and hear all the major lessons and memories of the past 20 years he will take with him into his new role.
The program begins at 6pm on Thursday, January 27th! Admission is free of charge and light refreshments will be provided.
