Portrayed by Ligonier native and military historian, Josh Freeman who will engage visitors with the fascinating history of the Highlands Scotts Regiment who fought at Fort Ligonier with the Forbes Campaign in 1758.An expert on American military history from the colonial period to 1865, Josh Freeman’s passion for French and Indian War history began at an early age while growing up in Ligonier. Josh had a rewarding career working for the National Park Service with many of those years spent at the Fort Necessity National Battlefield. He is currently a military historian at the U.S. Army Center for Military History at Fort McNair.
History Alive! at Fort Ligonier is an engaging experience for visitors to learn more about the daily life of a frontier military outpost in North America during the 18th century. Through daily programming depicting typical activities of a military site such as soldiering, manual labor, tailoring, laundry, and cooking, and special weekend demonstrations from 18th century artisans, History Alive! portrays the people who fought and lived at Fort Ligonier during the Forbes Campaign of 1758.
