What did people in the past think the future would look like?Join Florencia Pierri, associate curator of science and technology at the MIT Museum, to hear about visions of the future from times past. Using examples from the Museum’s collection, this talk will trace how people from the 1850s to the 1950s thought we would get around, talk to one another, live, and eat in the future.
Along the way, we’ll look at ideas that were at times strangely prescient, sometimes totally off base, and usually just plain weird, and examine how they reflected the hopes, fears, and aspirations of the people who created them.
