About this Event
Our upcoming Semiquincentennial exhibit at Buckman Tavern, Swept Up in Revolution, will highlight the experiences of real people caught in the eye of a storm as a war comes to their front door. Among the objects on display will be military items not seen by the public in many years. Join us in the Archives and Research Center for an intimate look at some of these relics, including a musket fired by John Munroe during the Battle of Lexington, with historic arms expert Joel Bohy.
$10 members, $15 nonmembers
Joel Bohy has had an enduring passion for the material culture related to military history. Growing up in Concord, Massachusetts, Joel began collecting at an early age and developed a passion for the arms, equipage, and uniforms of the common soldier from the American Revolutionary War through World War II. He is an active member of the American Society of Arms Collectors and an instructor for Advanced Metal Detecting for the Archeologist. His passion for militaria has led him to write and lecture with the Society For Historical Archaeology, Fields of Conflict archaeology conference, Colonial Williamsburg, “Weapons of War” conference, Concord Museum, and Minuteman National Historical Park. He is a frequent appraiser on Antiques Roadshow. His book Bullet Strikes from the First Day of the American Revolution, written with archaeologist Douglas Scott, comes out at the end of February.
