Join us for a historical journey in Salem! We'll be visiting Deepwood Museum & Gardens and the Willamette Heritage Center, with a stop at a food truck pod in between for lunch. Lunch is not included in the price of the trip. Deepwood Museum & Gardens, formerly known as Historic Deepwood Estate, or simply Deepwood, is a historic house in Salem, Oregon, United States. The home was built by Dr. Luke A. Port, with construction beginning in 1893, and completed in 1894. Deepwood consists of a 5 acre property with a vast array of outdoor experiences. As a Salem city park, the Deepwood grounds are open free to the public year round.
Willamette Heritage Center: Admission to the museum gives you access to exhibits in nine historic structures on our five-acre site. A self-guided tour map is available at the front desk to guide your journey through the museum. Permanent exhibits in the 1840s homes explore the experiences of Native Americans in the Valley and early European settlement of Oregon including Jason Lee and the Methodist Mission to Oregon and the Oregon Trail. The Thomas Kay Woolen Mill buildings provide an in-depth look at industrialization and the woolen industry in Oregon.
