Walk through history in DeLand’s Oakdale Cemetery with the West Volusia Historical Society’s in-house reenactor troupe and hear the stories of the evolving partnership between the City of DeLand and Stetson University.
Learn how their collaborative efforts and shared goals created a mutually beneficial environment, supporting both the town’s development and the University’s growth. You’ll meet several key individuals, who, during this Progressive Era were instrumental in advancing education, social reforms and community development, establishing DeLand as progressive and forward-thinking.
Walking Tours begin at 5:30 pm and are approximately an hour and 15 minutes in length. The last tour of the evening will begin at 6:50 pm.
Tickets: $20 for members; $25 for nonmembers
$15 for children under 12 years of age.
Reservations required. Call WVHS at 386-740-6813 to RSVP. Tuesday – Saturday, 12 noon to 4 pm.
Guests reserve a tour in a specific time slot with tours commencing the walk every 20 minutes. There are a limited number of slots so make your reservations early. The walk is on the old, historical paths through Oakdale Cemetery and this event is not recommended for those with serious mobility issues.
