About this Event
Built in 1891, the Historic Elitch Theatre was a cultural hub for Colorado for over a century. Originally the centerpiece of the Elitch's Zoological Gardens, as the amusement park grew around it, the citizens of Denver and thousands of visitors flocked to see the likes of Grace Kelly, Douglas Fairbanks, Robert Redford, Debbie Reynolds, and countless others perform on the historic stage
When the amusement park moved to downtown Denver, the theatre was left standing, but abandoned. Today the Historic Elitch Theatre foundation continues the work to restore the theatre
Join us for a tour and learn about the amazing history, as well as the exciting future
Tours are offered on the first Friday of the month (two per night) throughout the summer to coincide with the Tennyson First Friday Art Walks.
Accessibility Note: All areas of the theatre all accessible, except for the balcony, which is blocked off for public access. If you need audio/video accessibility accommodations for any events (i.e. sign language interpretation or audio descriptions) please contact us in advance to identify the needed accommodations and we can look into options. (We are a small all-volunteer organization, so it may take us some time to find options.)
