A trio of outstanding Hispanic vocalists—mezzo-soprano Carla López-Speziale, tenor William Velasco, and baritone Alejandro de los Santos—will present an exciting program accompanied by piano and arranged by Pablo Zinger, who has been called “The King of Zarzuela” by Opera News. This performance will feature the best of Spanish Zarzuela—Spanish musical theatre—alongside beloved Latin American favorites from Mexico, Puerto Rico, and Cuba.
The Zarzuela selections will include pieces from *El barberillo de Lavapiés*, *La verbena de la paloma*, *La Gran Vía*, and *Doña Francisquita*. The popular selections will showcase songs like "Preciosa," "Júrame," "Bésame mucho," "Quizás, quizás," "En mi Viejo San Juan," and "Cucurrucucú paloma."
Bring a lawn chair, a blanket, and all your friends. Narrations will be available in both English and Spanish.
This program is made possible in part with public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, the New York State Council on the Arts, our membership, and you. Thank you
