Hip Hop Dance Workshop

Hip Hop Dance Instructor, Stephanie Cowan, will lead this free dance workshop at Centennial Civic Centre Auditorium (2nd floor). Hip hop is considered the most accessible dance form for the general public as it does not require special shoes or special clothing. Parents or guardians are welcome to stay and view the workshop.

About the Instructor

Born and raised in Lloydminster Alberta, Stephanie grew up dancing and competing from a young age. Introduced to the world of hip-hop in her early teens, Stephanie began choreographing locally by age 15. As a dancer and choreographer Stephanie has trained across North America, from Broadway Dance Centre in New York City to Harbour Dance Centre in Vancouver, BC. Stephanie began teaching hip hop in Saskatoon in 2013 at Brenda’s School of Baton and Dance, co-directing its street dance program bsoFlo, as well as semi-professional crews bsoFlo Varsity and bsoFlo Co. Over the past ten years, these crews have competed across the country in some of the industry’s most respected hip-hop competitions Artists Emerge, Represent, World of Dance and Hip Hop International. bsoFlo Varsity placed 1st in Showtime’s Crystal Challenge Dance Off for 3 consecutive years, winning again this past year in 2024. They were also named Superstar Crew in 2018, 2019 and 2022 at Saskatchewan’s Street Dance Competition, Block Party 306. bsoFlo Co. competed at the World of Dance Qualifiers in New York City in November of 2018. bsoFlo Co. continued their season placing 1st in the All-Star Megacrew division at Artists Emerge and 2nd in the All-Star Megacrew division at Represent in 2019. Stephanie also co-directed the RiderFlo Street Dance Crew, Saskatchewan’s first CFL Street Dance team from 2019 - 2023. Additionally, Stephanie co-directed and danced with bsoFlo appearing on season 2 of Canada’s Got Talent! Most recently, Stephanie became the co-owner of Brenda’s School of Baton and Dance. Through her teaching Stephanie strives to instil a passion for dance, the pursuit of excellence and the value of hard work in every student she works with. Her enthusiasm and joy for the art of dance are felt in every class she instructs.
