Join us as we watch a very popular Indian Hindi-language comedy-drama film called English Vinglish (with English subtitles)! Students will get together to watch this beautiful movie together, and then practice their Hindi speaking and listening skills during a discussion afterwards. All levels of Hindi language learners are welcome to attend!
About the movie: This is the story of a quiet, sweet tempered Marathi housewife who endures small slights from her well educated husband and daughter everyday because of her inability to speak and understand English. She is resourceful and open-minded but somehow these traits don't get noticed by them. Then one day on a trip to visit her sister in Manhattan, USA she decides to enroll in an English Learners class and meets a host of new people from different countries & varied backgrounds (American, French, Chinese, Pakistani, Tamil, Mexican, African-Caribbean) who teach her to value herself beyond the narrow perspective of her family.
