The iconic Wellington Anniversary Weekend Himatangi Beach Big Dig is back for 2026, and it’s bigger than ever! 🙌Join us at Himatangi Beach on Saturday 17th January for a massive day of digging! There are 100S of awesome prizes up for grabs. Proudly supported by Mitre 10 MEGA Palmerston North and More FM Manawatū.
We’re also bringing back the ‘Little Dig’. A safe place for kids under 5 to have a go at winning smaller prizes.

Tickets will also be available at the beach from 10AM on the day. The Little Dig kicks off at 12PM, followed by the Big Dig at 1PM. We recommend arriving early to beat the queues and secure the best digging spot.
All ages are welcome. Hands only - no digging tools please.
