Set within the Hilton College Private Game Reserve, this trail run offers runners rare access to a pristine natural landscape normally closed to the public.The routes showcase sweeping views of Ottoβs Bluff, Albert Falls, and the winding uMngeni River as they pass through some of the Midlandsβ most scenic terrain. The Long and Medium courses venture deep into the 650-hectare reserve, descending into the uMngeni Valley before climbing back onto the plateau. Aloe-lined ascents overlook the river below, while the surrounding grasslands and bushveld are home to warthog, giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, and several species of buck.
The Short course follows quieter trails through shaded pine plantations, offering a cooler, more relaxed run while still delivering a strong sense of place.
Across all distances, runners can expect a well-balanced mix of dirt roads and flowing singletrack, creating varied and enjoyable running. With its combination of expansive views, wildlife, and diverse landscapes, the Hilton College Trail Run remains a standout event on the Midlands trail calendar.
