Stanford Wednesday Night Skate Start/Museum Way Parking | Stanford

Hills Route\/Standard Time\/Full Moon Wednesday Night Skate This week, we move deeper into the dark and deeper into the rainy season. At this point, the risk of rain at or near skate time is small. However, we are expecting serious wet in the preceding morning and the tree-covered Dark Side can take a full day and often more to dry out. In times like this, it is best to travel the dryer Hills route. The route is a little shorter but not easier as there is an extended climb section. If we get enough people to hold traffic, we might even roll the Matterhorne: our seldom visited second 30+ mph downhill.
If clouds give us a break, we may enjoy a full moon.
Either way, we will, as always, have eleven miles or rolling hills, smooth pavement, and fun people.
Bring skates, bike, scooter, or any other sort of human-powered conveyance to the Museum Way parking lot between Palm Drive and the Canter Art Museum by 7:30pm. Lace-up. At 7:50pm (sort of) we launch into the darkness.
Power up the Cedro Way "Summit" hill. Take in the views from the top. Wander back down before the "don't miss" hard left.
Skate up Page Mill. Down a little and then up some more below before pondering Hanover. This is classically a super fun fast descent but the street department has added a wrinkle. Our regulars have figured out how to bomb it safely, but if this is your first time or first time back, you may want to take it slow until you have it sorted.
After cruising back to the campus proper, wind your way up 5 floors of the garage and down 6. With the oval back in sight, burn all you have left in a race around the fountain before cruising back to the parking lot. Pack up to go home, exhausted but happy that you made it.
It doesn't get better than this!
For the detail nerds:
We meet just off Palm Drive at the Museum Way parking lot between Palm Drive and the Cantor Art Museum.
There is no valid street address but google maps will get you there

And so will the ICBM coordinates: 37°25'57.2"N 122°10'08.8"W
Gather on the corner nearest the Oval and Palm Drive. X marks the spot on the Google Map.

This is the Hill Route. A little more aggressive than the Dark Side but less prone to lingering damp.
Meet at 7:30pm The important time is the elapsed time (near the bottom) 1h 40 minutes in this case.
Meet at 7:30pm, move out at 7:50pm.
