About this Event
Join Mallard on Thursday, August 14th, for a special 4-course tasting menu curated by Chef Hamilton Johnson paired with limited-edition 15th Anniversary beers from the world-renowned Hill Farmstead Brewery.
Founded in 2010 by Shaun Hill on his ancestral land in Greensboro, Vermont, Hill Farmstead has become one of the most celebrated breweries in the world. Known for its elegant, expressive beers and deep sense of place, the brewery embodies generations of family history and a dedication to craftsmanship. This dinner offers a rare opportunity to try Hill Farmstead beers in Washington, DC, including several seldom seen outside of the brewery’s taproom.
Opened in August 2024, Mallard is a warm, convivial restaurant featuring Chef Johnson’s reverent, yet playful take on the diverse food cultures of the American South. He grew up in Inman, South Carolina with an appreciation for the Southern foodways by cooking alongside his mother and father in a family kitchen. The name Mallard was even inspired by his father’s hobby of carving wooden decoys. Chef Johnson has brought this spirit and care into this thoughtfully developed 4-course tasting menu.
This intimate event will feature five exceptional Hill Farmstead selections, with commentary and insight provided by Bob Montgomery, a longtime member of the brewery’s leadership team and one of its most knowledgeable voices. Bob will guide guests through each pour, sharing tasting notes, history, and stories from the brewery.
Tickets are $150 per guest, which includes gratuity. Seating is limited and will be arranged at communal tables throughout the Mallard dining room.
