?? let's go hiking!
Lafayette Heritage Trail Lake Loop is one of the coolest trails in Tallahassee. The 3.5 mile loop takes you around Lake Lafayette and Piney Z Lake. It is abundant with birds and often you can see alligators in the waters. There are sunny spots with benches overlooking the water and the lily pad beds. The stoic oak trees on this loop are breathtaking and give a glimpse into the area’s past. This trail also includes a gorgeous covered wooden pedestrian bridge over the railroad tracks. The kids love the height and are even able to look out over where they started and over the lakes. It is awesome if you happen to catch a train crossing! This loop has access to Cadillac Trail, the multi-use share trail to Tom Brown Park, access to JR Alford Greenway and Bill’s Trail.
At the trail head on the Piney Z Park, there is a nice playground, restrooms and water fountains. There is fishing available, mountain biking trails and a remote control track.
