🌈 Dubuque Pride September Activity Meetup – Outdoor Hike for Trevor Project’s 30 Miles to Save Lives Challenge📍John and Alice Butler Trail – Mines of Spain

Join Dubuque Pride for a community hike on the John and Alice Butler Trail in support of The Trevor Project’s 30 Miles to Save Lives Challenge. September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, and together we will raise awareness and funds to help end suicide among LGBTQ+ young people.
While this trail is only about 1 mile round trip, our group goal is to bring together 30 participants so we collectively cover 30 miles in honor of the challenge. Half of all proceeds raised locally will be donated directly to The Trevor Project.
Trail Information:
- Trail: John and Alice Butler Trail (ADA-accessible, paved)
- Length: 1 mile round trip
Features:
- Restored prairie with native plants & bird viewing
- Interpretive signage and a large compass area for group gathering
- Nearby paved parking (including bus parking)
- Spur connection to America’s State Tree Woodland Walk
Schedule:
2:00 PM – Check-in at the trailhead, water available, donations collected
2:10 PM – Group photo at the trail start
2:15 PM – Hike begins at your own pace
Ways to Participate:
- Join us for the in person hike (Park in the Americas State Tree Woodland Walk parking lot, meet at the nearby pavilion.)
- Provide optional donation (50% of funds raised will support The Trevor Project)
- Spread the word. Share your experience online to raise awareness for LGBTQ+ youth suicide prevention.
- Join the Trevor Project’s Virtual Challenge. Sign up on Facebook to complete your own 30 miles in September, wherever you are.

The Trevor Project’s mission is to create a more welcoming world for LGBTQ+ youth. By joining this hike, you’re not only supporting suicide prevention but also building community and visibility right here in Dubuque.
