Welcome to Silver Lake! This artistic neighborhood on LA's east side is one of the coolest places you can visit in Los Angeles. Silver Lake is home to celebrities, amazing restaurants, great shopping, and some of LA's best hidden street art.
Throughout this 2 walking tour, you will explore beautiful Silver Lake. This 2.5 mile walk will take you up and down several hidden stair cases in the area. You will see famous locations like the Micheltorena Stairs, which have been dubbed "the most Instagrammed stairs in the world" and the "je t'aime Los Angeles" mural on the Swan Pl stairs.
Along the way, your guide will share the fascinating history of this neighborhood and LA as a whole. You'll learn about the coolest restaurants, notable citizens, changing demographics, local legends, and pivotal moments in the fight for LGBTQ civil rights. All of our guides are passionate about LA history, service, and making sure you take the best tour of your life!
As we walk, don't forget to take tons of pictures! Your guide is happy to be your personal photographer so that you don't miss a shot. And the neighborhood is full of great places for photos. Whether you want to pose with the art or you just want to take in the sweeping views from the stairs, this tour is great for photos. Just be sure to tag the various artists you learn about so they know you appreciate their work!
And, before you know it, you're back where you started! But, the tour isn't over yet, you still need to visit a local bakery and get a treat (included in the tour) after that workout. Finally, after all that, you can say that you've seen LA's Secret Painted Stairs!

What kind of tour is this? This is a 2hr hiking tour.
Is it a serious workout? Yes! We will be going up and down many LARGE stairways throughout the tour. You must be able to walk 2.5 miles in 2 hours AND cover about 1000 individual stair steps. It’s a great way to get in shape or squeeze your usual exercise in while visiting a new area.
Where do we meet? We will meet at Alfred’s Coffee on Sunset Blvd in Silver Lake. Keep an eye on your email, your guide may contact you to let you know when they have arrived! Please try to arrive 15 minutes early. Remember, this is LA. If you don’t try to get here early, you’ll be late. The guide may not be able to wait if there are other guests or if you are more than 15 minutes late.
Can the bakery at the end make something that meets my dietary needs? Probably! And if they can't, somewhere else probably can. Please let us know about any dietary restrictions or allergies in advance please!
Are there restrooms? There is a bathroom at Muddy Paw Coffee, across the street from Alfred’s Coffee. There are no other bathrooms during the tour! Be prepared to be out for about 1hr 45mins.
That was the best tour I’ve ever taken. Is it ok to tip? Absolutely. Our guides will never ask for a tip, their biggest concern is giving a great tour, but a tip is a great way to show that you had a good time.
