The Oregon coast is reliably spectacular for its nearly 400 mile length. However, some parts are more spectacular than others. We may be biased, but we deem the section between Sunset Bay and Cape Arago to be the best our state has to offer.Driving time: 2 hours, 10 minutes
Driving directions: https://maps.app.goo.gl/jnN3hqQWxto1hmz19
Entry or parking fee: $10 or free with Oregon State Park day use parking pass.
Hiking route: Yet to be determined, subject to the whims, moods, and caprices of hike leader John.
Difficulty level: Moderate
Distance: 6 to 8 miles
Elevation gain: 250 feet
Pluses: That coastal scenery and possibly some large waves dashing themselves on the shore.
Minuses: Weather can be wet and the trail muddy in places. A 9.5 foot high tide at noon is prognosticated. That's pretty high so we won't be hiking on the beach.
For more information call (don't text) John at 541-673-1973.
On the day of the hike: Meet at 8 am in the Douglas County Courthouse parking lot off of Fowler St., right behind the library building.
Bring water, lunch, and appropriate clothing for hiking.
If you are riding with somebody, be prepared to share gas expenses with your driver.
Please do not attend if you feel sick, are coughing, or have a fever.
The club hikes every other Saturday, rain or shine. Hiking is free, everybody is welcome.
