HIKE:
This description will be updated once I have a chance to recon the hike. The main trail ("Red and Orange Loop" on AllTrails) is only 2.5 miles and I'd like to get it up to 4 miles. There are a number of off-shoot trails from the main trail, so I just need to map out which ones to add on to get it up to 4 miles.
This is a beautiful historic park with many trees changing leaves and trails along an inlet of the Potomac River. It is hilly, with rocks and roots. And, as beautiful as fall leaves are, on the ground they are slippery whether dry or wet, so I suggest hiking boots with treads and hiking poles.
The ADDRESS ABOVE is to the last house on Balls Bluff Road before you drive down a dirt road to get to the parking lot at the park. So, don't park in the cul-de-sac - enter the park and drive until you get to the parking lot.

SIP: After the hike, join me at Whites Ferry Brewing (42484 Whites Ferry Rd, Leesburg, VA 20176) a quick 4 mile / 12 minute drive from Balls Bluff.
The new-ish (opened in Jan 2025) brewery overlooks the Potomac River and has a covered patio out back. They brew their beers (pilsner, brown ale, Belgian dubbel and triple, IPA, stout and kolsch) onsite, have beer flights so you can taste and the pizzas look amazing.

The brewery opens at 12 noon, so if you don't want to hike but want to socialize with hikers, you are welcome to join us at noon.
