Join us for a Hike and Yoga at Samuell Farms.
Explore More is here to bring you a fun outdoor community event where we will get in nature and soak up the fresh air with a family friendly hike and some yoga in nature. We want to give you the opportunity to explore new trails and activities while meeting new people and building confidence outdoors.
Cost: $25
Hike Length: 2-3 miles
Hike Time: 1-1.5 hours
Event Overview: We will begin the morning with a short hike to a beautiful overlook and then do a 20-30ish minute standing outdoor yoga practice on an even surface- no mat needed. Before our hike we will discuss outdoor and hiking ethics and Leave No Trace Principles. We will hike approximately 1 mile to the overlook and then do some yoga and then hike 1-1.5 miles back, about an hour and a half-2 hours in total.
Parking: There is plenty of free parking at Samuell Farms.
What you bring: Please bring water and a snack if needed (but be sure to pack any trash out) and wear comfortable clothes and tennis or hiking shoes. Trekking poles or a walking stick recommended if you would like assistance with avoiding tripping or assistance climbing hills. You will NOT need a yoga mat. This trail has some shaded spots but plenty of open spaces with direct sunlight so you may want sunscreen even in the winter. It is mostly flat, with some incline and elevation along the way. This will be an all-levels hike.
Recommended skills for this hike: The ability to listen and follow instructions, walk independently or with light assistance with a single point cane or trek-pole, the ability to look for trip hazards, lift feet 3 inches from the ground, move to the side quickly and the ability to not touch or ingest the flora and fauna.
Trash Talk: Explore More encourages cleaning up the trail as we go. A grocery sack will be provided. Glove wearing is welcomed. We will make it fun and have prizes for whoever picks up the most trash.
Before your Hike: Hydrate, use the restroom before hiking and bring extra water/snack.
Family friendly: Yes! Your kids are welcome and FREE!! However, no strollers and make sure children can handle a 3-mile hike OR be held. Dogs are also welcome but must be on a leash and you must pack out poop. Be sure to have any baby carrying device you need and that kids and dogs can obey commands especially when we need to step aside so bikers can pass.
What you will get from us: You will have a fun experience, be led in an outdoor yoga class and guided hike, some outdoor education and inspiration to get outside and build confidence so you can continue to Explore More on your own.
Weather disclosure: If weather does not allow us to have our event or recent weather has caused the trail to close, we will either relocate, reschedule or refund your ticket price OR you can transfer to another event. Please check your email and the Facebook event for any updates.
