The Department of Economics, Presidency University has recently signed a MoU with Virginia Tech University, USA. Virginia Tech is a public institution that was founded in 1872. It has a total undergraduate enrollment of 30,434 (fall 2022), and the campus size is 2,600 acres. It utilizes a semester-based academic calendar. The primary goal of this program is to introduce students to methods for integrating modern data techniques with economic theory, and teach students how to apply economic theory and quantitative methods to address questions relevant to the context of industries, academia, and policy institutions. The course will be job-oriented, and students will have the opportunity to get a good career placement. As the degree is recognized under STEM by the US Government, after completion of the course, students will get a 3-year work visa.
Prof. Niloy Bose, Head of Economics Department, Virginia Tech University, will be visiting our Department in November to discuss the course details, application procedure, and career prospects with interested students.
