The Dorset and West Hampshire Local Network are having their sixth annual Sponsored Beach Walk!
About this Event

Taking in the wonderful Highcliffe coastline, the 9km stroll is a great opportunity to socialise with others affected by Crohn's and Colitis, their friends and family and the volunteers working for you in your local area. The Sponsored Beach Walk also helps to raise awareness of the conditions to people who may not have heard of them or the charity.

Once registered, you will also receive a link to our JustGiving page to circulate amongst your friends, families and supporters so that they can sponsor your endeavour.

All funds go directly to the Dorset & West Hampshire Network, allowing them to continue their fantastic work throughout the area of raising awareness, hosting local education and social events and funding local grants. Should it not be possible to spend the entirety of these funds at a local level, the volunteers will redistribute them to Crohn's & Colitis UK.

Start time for the event 10.00a.m.

FAQs

What is the route?

From the Cliffhanger Restaurant we’ll walk west along the beach to the Highcliffe Castle zigzag path and up through the castle grounds, along to Steamer Point back down to the beach and on to the Haven Cafe on Mudeford Quay, there will be time to purchase refreshment from the cafe but these will be at your own expense. Then we return the same way or possibly round the roads back to Avon Beach and then return on the same track to the Cliffhanger.

Who is the event for?

Everyone! This is a family-friendly event so all ages are welcome. A lot of the 9km route is on stoney/gravel paths and some inclines so sensible walking shoes are highly recommended.

Does everyone need a ticket?

Please register everyone that you are intending to bring. A few extras on the day will be welcome but if you can let us know in advance it helps us in our planning of the event.

Is parking avalaible?

A large car park is immediately adjacent to the Cliffhanger and there be a gazebo and stand right outside. The charge for the car park will be £7.00 for four hours which should cover most people. The carpark only takes card payment or parking app only, no cash.

Do I have to wear my Crohn’s & Colitis UK t-shirt?

If you have one – yes please! The more visible we are, the more awareness we raise. We will also have a limited supply of t-shirts on the day avalaible to all walkers for an optional donation. These will be handed out on arrival.

Are dogs welcome?

All dogs must be kept on leads but the route is dog-friendly.

Will photographs be taken?

Pictures will be taken on the day and used on our website, in our Newsletters and across social media. If you do not wish for your picture to be used in this way, please inform a volunteer on arrival and they will make sure you are not included in photos.

How can I contact the organiser with any questions?

Please email [email protected] or call 01727 734475 with any queries about the event. On the day, our volunteers will be there to provide support, answer questions and make sure you don’t lose your way.
