Council, in collaboration with winners from the ABC Takeover Lismore summit, is launching High Schoolers Haven—a transformative initiative for our local youth. This project aims to redefine opportunities for youth by offering a vibrant pop-up event framework where young people can cultivate skills, connect with peers and mentors and provide valuable community feedback.🏀🎨 From sports to arts, plus chill-out spaces for relaxation, these events will have it all! Local youth organisations will also be on hand to engage with attendees.
There have been ongoing collaborative efforts since November 2023 involving Council, the Office for Regional Youth and the Richmond Police District to amplify youth voices. High Schoolers Haven is an output of this collaboration.
High Schoolers Haven is set to kick off its pilot phase with events scheduled at the Goonellabah Sports and Aquatic Centre on Friday evenings: 5 July, 2 August, 6 September, 4 October and 1 November from 4pm to 7pm.
