High school aged coders will learn fundamental and intermediate computer programming concepts while building an app in the second of four High School Coding Workshops at Codefi during June 2024.In this workshop, high school aged coders will dive into the world of web development as they work on a portfolio website project. Start by mastering HTML and CSS to structure and style the website and learn about responsive design techniques like media queries and flexbox/grid systems. Coders will level up their site’s functionality using JavaScript, and add dynamic navigation, smooth scrolling, and other interactive elements for a happy UI experience. On top of that, coders will learn how to organize their code effectively, use Github for version control, and deploy their site. By the end of this workshop, coders will be versed in a range of web development skills.
Get hands-on experience in coding, design, and problem-solving, and work alongside like-minded coders to add features to pre-built apps.
Take one workshop or all four, and leave with a solid foundation in practical computer science skills. Show off what you’ve built at Demo Day on Monday, June 17 at 5:30 p.m., where you can connect with coders from all four workshops and see what each cohort built.
High School Coding Workshops at Codefi are taught by professional software developers and graduates of Code Labs. Workshops will take place at Codefi in Cape Girardeau's Marquette Tower. Lunch or dinner will be served.
