About this Event
Join us for our first-ever High Desert Plant Celebration & Giveaway!
Hosted by the Antelope Valley Audubon Society and the California Native Plant Society San Gabriel Chapter, this inaugural event at VFW Post 3000 celebrates the unique plants, wildlife, and community of the High Desert.
Enjoy a full day of activities for all ages, including FREE native plant and seed giveaways, educational talks, interactive workshops, and family-friendly crafts. Learn how native plants can support local birds, pollinators, and desert biodiversity while discovering practical ways to bring these resilient species into your own landscape.
We’ll be joined by Transition Habitat Conservancy, the Los Angeles County Parks Department, Canyons to the Desert Resource Conservation District (CDRCD), and other conservation and plant-focused partners sharing their expertise and resources. The celebration will also feature a live musical performance by Sage Against the Machine!
Sage Against the Machine is an L.A.-based “native-plant nerd” band that blends punk energy with ecological passion. Fronted by botanists and horticulturists, their lively performances celebrate and defend the wild beauty of California’s native landscapes.
Whether you’re a gardener, naturalist, or simply curious about the desert environment, this event offers an opportunity to learn, connect, and take home native plants that help our ecosystem thrive.
We look forward to seeing you at this community celebration of nature, learning, and the High Desert’s enduring beauty.
