High Country Sinfonia (HCS), a professional, musician-led chamber orchestra, is pleased to announce its 2024 Fall Concert Series, featuring performances on Friday, October 18, at Christ Episcopal Church in Aspen, and Sunday, October 20, at the River Valley Ranch Old Thompson Barn in Carbondale. Highlighting the program will be a solo performance by Aspen High School senior and talented cellist, Kurt Kowar `25. A member of the local musical community since age seven, Kurt will perform Tchaikovsky’s “Variations on a Rococo Theme, Op. 33”, showcasing his dedication and passion for the cello. Kurt has participated in prestigious programs such as the Aspen Music Festival & School, Kinhaven Music School, and Brevard Music Center, and his goal is to become a soloist after graduation, traveling the world to perform.
The fall program also includes J.S. Bach’s “Brandenburg Concerto No. 6” and Antonin Dvorak’s Serenade for Strings, presenting a diverse selection of works that demonstrate the ensemble’s commitment to delivering rich and engaging classical music to the community.
In keeping with HCS’s tradition of accessible and intimate performances, a small reception will be held after each concert, allowing audience members to meet the musicians and enjoy light refreshments, thanks to the generous support from Local Spirits and Paradise Bakery.
