Culled from an open DMV Call for Art, this year's artists are Elizabeth Ashe, Jeffrey Berg, Felisa Federman, Holly Harris, Kristofer Heng, Dave Hubbard, Maven Kahn, Amuri Morris, Doris Ross, Jessie Seigel, Eric Rottcher, Ana Yelsi, and Anatol Woolf. Some 24 works will be on exhibit.“We are pleased to be able to organize an exhibition for a range of artists, working with similar themes in a variety of media, with approaches that include representational, surreal, humorous, emotional, abstract, and conceptual,” says owner and organizer Colburn. “Given the state of our politics and what a long slog it’s been, my hope with this show is to provide a “release valve” for area artists and audiences from this election year.”
In the spirit of previous home-based venues such as Porch Projects in DC, and current ones such as Ruby Projects in Arlington,VA, Michèle Colburn and Warren Williams organize exhibits annually for local artists in a home studio exhibition space, to further opportunities for artists and build community.
Back End Studios is located at 4326 Chesapeake St NW, Washington, DC. The nearest Metro stop is Tenleytown on the Red Line. Street parking is available. Entrance via the alley.
Private exhibit visits in preview start Saturday, Sept.21 and during the run of the exhibit are by appointment at 202-716-4211. The exhibition continues through Sunday, Oct. 20.
