About this Event
Renovation work at Lincoln’s Greyfriars is now drawing to a close. The scaffolding erected within and besides that medieval building as part of that work has allowed the timber to be studied in detail for the first time in more than a century. The roof still retains the original timbers from the mid-thirteenth century. Recording has shown that this is a uniquely early example of a once more common roof form. It has given an insight into carpentry at a point of transition to new forms of construction.
