ARTISTS’S SKETCHBOOK
Artist sketchbooks provide insight into an artist’s process, inspirations, and experiments. These unique books are so important to understanding an artist’s practice that they are collected as manuscripts. Often beautiful in themselves, they also provide a wealth of information for researchers. Libraries hold both original sketchbooks and facsimiles in their collections. For July’s Hidden Treasure, stop by the Spencer Art Reference Library to explore a selection of the original and facsimile sketchbooks in the library’s collection.
