About this Event
St. Petersburg Black History Tours is pleased to announce a new walking tour. At the founding of St. Petersburg, Black residents could not utilize the city's parks and the undeveloped area now known as Campbell Park was a place they could recreate. The history of the first "Negro park" is filled with fascinating stories. It's the location of the first circus, where Jesse Owens raced an automobile, where the Negro Baseball League played and so much more. Historian and Guide, Josette Green, shares well researched history and little known stories supported by photos. The racist history of the past still shows up in the park today. Come and learn what this is and take action to make a difference.
The walk is less than a mile and a charge of $15 is due that day by cash, venmo or zelle. Further details are shared by email once registered. Registration can be completed at [email protected]. Parking is free and a bike rack is on site.
