Hidden Herd Presents is Brighton’s new music discovery night, spotlighting the most exciting emerging artists, ones-to-watch and hidden gems. This time, come to The Hope & Ruin for House of Women, Le Lamb, Veronica and Restless Taxis.
House of Women
Drawing inspiration from Alice in Chains, Mazzy Star and PJ Harvey, London’s House of Women craft haunting, heavy alt-rock defined by its shadowy atmosphere, explosive guitar riffs and mammoth choruses. Backed by Kerrang! and So Young Magazine, and championed by Alyx Holcombe on her BBC Radio 1 Music Introducing Rock show, the five-piece are set to release their second EP, ‘Starstruck’, this September - with its lead single, ‘Like It Did Before’, being featured on Spotify’s editorial playlist Melomania. Renowned for their captivating live show, House of Women broke the record for the most show sign-ups ever at The Shacklewell Arms and have sold out venues including The Lexington and Brighton’s The Rossi Bar. Their growing reputation has seen them play festivals such as All Points East, 2000trees, Are You Listening? and Wanderlust, with a Paris debut lined up at Supersonic Club’s They’re Gonna Be Big festival later this year. They’ve also played Rough Trade Recommends, lit up a Bad Vibes All-Dayer and shared stages with emerging favourites like Grandmas House, Alien Chicks and Thistle.

Le Lamb
Described as “refreshingly odd” by Brighton Source, mysterious art-rock newcomers Le Lamb offer a psychedelic experience like no other - where early fans have already come to expect the unexpected. The Brighton five-piece have sparked a wildfire of word-of-mouth hype, selling out their debut headline show at The Brunswick before topping subsequent bills at Green Door Store, Daltons and The Folklore Rooms. This year, they’ve played Homegrown Festival, appeared at the first Hidden Herd x Parallel Lines show at The Rossi Bar headlined by Velvetine, and recently released their debut single, ‘Sirens Call’ - a theatrical, 60s-inspired introduction to their surreal and spellbinding world.

Veronica
Originally from Milan, enchanting singer-songwriter Veronica has been captivating audiences with her dark, hauntingly beautiful storytelling and cinematic songcraft since moving to Brighton in 2023. Her signature sound is both ethereal and alluring, drawing comparisons to renowned artists such as Kate Bush, Tori Amos, Aurora and FKA Twigs. Endorsed by the Arts Council and championed by Wonderland and Groupie Magazine, Veronica is on a mission to challenge the male-dominated industry, self-producing a string of standout singles and two EPs. On stage, she is joined by Hattie, Annie, Olive, and Eva, who are known to hypnotise rooms with their mesmerising, dreamlike presence. Having graced the Bella Union Vinyl Shop’s Sandwich Sessions and performed alongside Brighton favourites including Yumi and The Weather, Hutch, Frances Mistry, Coco And The Lost and Lucy Darke, Veronica is on the rise, leaving listeners spellbound long after the final note fades.

Restless Taxis
Building a reputation as one of the noisiest and most exciting new bands in the capital, Restless Taxis are a DIY, queer and POC-led outfit from East London. Still in their teens, the four-piece - who also feature a dedicated interpretative dancer when playing live - have already caught the attention of So Young Magazine and Hard of Hearing Magazine thanks to their immersive performances. Since forming in 2019, their sound has evolved from scuzzy Sub Pop-inspired sludge into a frenetic blend that draws on influences as varied as emo, rave, Van Halen, A.R. Kane and UK sound system culture. They recently unveiled their blistering new single ‘Slugs’, recorded at Fuzzbrain Studios, which follows on from their debut EP ‘Swan’ in 2023. Live, Restless Taxis recently stormed So Young Magazine’s Young Barbican Takeover Festival at the Barbican Centre alongside Folly Group, Man/Woman/Chainsaw and more. In recent months, they’ve also played Blitzcat Records’ Moth Club takeover as part of Label Mates Festival and a Hideous Mink Records x Fierce Panda night at The Victoria in Dalston.
