The 22nd Gathering will take place on November 8-10, 2024 in Williamsburg, Virginia. This is where the Gathering began in 2003 and it will be good to be back again! We’ll be at the Williamsburg Regional Library at 515 Scotland Street. Our co-hosts are Kim Person and Matt Thomas. Our hotel is the Best Western Williamsburg at 351 York Street. 757- 229-4100. We’ve arranged a terrific rate of $80.40 per room per night – which includes the taxes! Mention the Harp Guitar Gathering when you make your reservation and remember – reservations must be made by October 17th!
A few things are as yet to be decided, but this much we do know: The amazing Calum Graham will be coming from Canada to perform for us. Larry Haron (who’s been with us for the last 2 Gatherings) will be doing what I strongly suspect will be a very interesting presentation. Larry Berwald (whom some will remember from previous Gatherings in Virginia) will be doing a presentation for us. Mark Farley will be teaching a workshop, as will Kim Person (but not about recording this time – she’s also a harp guitar player!). And Kinloch Nelson has composed and will be coordinating our ensemble piece this year. This will be our 4th time doing this activity and I think it’s been a great addition to our schedule!
For those who are contemplating arriving early, our Thursday evening pre-party this year will be hosted by my good friend Sid Mitra (that’s Dr. Siddhartha Mitra to you!) and his wife Paula at the their home in Williamsburg. Some of you will recall that Sid (along with another dear friend of mine – Pam Gurley) cooked for the pre-party at Nancy’s and my house here in West Cornwall, Connecticut for HGG 20.
That’s enough for now. I’ll get the registration links made and posted in the next couple of weeks.
Best to all, Stephen Bennett (the one without the British accent)
