Rejoice, Steely Dan fans! The next best thing to seeing the real band live is a local group of ten exceptional musicians, “Hey, Nineteen,” who play the music, note perfect. Just getting the right chords to these songs is like making a politician tell the truth. I’m a drummer who goes to clubs and fades into the walls waiting for the music to end, but I was stunned by this band, and overjoyed. Superb renditions of “Reeling in the Years,” “Rikki Don’t Lose that Number,” “Black Friday,” “Gaucho,” “Green Earrings,” “Peg,” “Barrytown,” “Kid Charlemagne,” and many other Steely Dan classics, including, unbelievably, “Third World Man.”
