"A stage presence only matched by the clarity of her voice"
James Morrison AM, Musician, Aria Award Winner, Musical Director (Australia)
Based in Paris since 2017, British/Australian vocalist Hetty Kate built her career in the vibrant Melbourne jazz scene, where she was mentored by some of Australia's most treasured jazz musicians.
Her voice has taken her across the globe, from New Zealand to New York, with a career spanning nearly two decades. She toured extensively with Australian jazz luminary James Morrison, serving as the featured vocalist in his award-winning symphonic concert The A to Z of Jazz, which was performed with eight symphonic orchestras worldwide.
Hetty has graced stages at international jazz festivals across North America, Europe, Asia, and Australia, and has released 11 acclaimed albums. Beyond her jazz career, she portrayed American actress Ava Gardner in an original musical in Australia and appeared as herself in French director Herve Hadmar's television series Romance.
Returning home to tour is always a highlight of Hetty’s year, and she is thrilled to be back on the beautiful stage of The Citadel, performing alongside long-time friends and outstanding musicians Dave Longo (guitar), Helen Russell (bass), and Dave Sanders (drums).
Often described as 'one of the best swing singers on the current scene' and 'the real deal,' Hetty Kate’s natural musicality, clear tone, and impeccable timing are complemented by her warmth, wit, and deep connection to both the music and the audience. Enjoy a masterful evening featuring classics and curiosities from Dameron to Brubeck, Porter to Kern, and selections from the American Songbook and beyond. We look forward to seeing you!
"Beautiful, enchanting. A big future ahead.."
