Hershel and the Hanukkah Goblins is an original, family-friendly, contemporary and Yiddish dance adaptation of the classic children's book by Eric Kimmel and Trina Schart Hyman, choreographed and directed by Hannah MacKenzie-Margulies. In the story, a wandering trickster named Hershel saves a village in Ukraine from a pack of goblins who have taken over their synagogue and are preventing them from celebrating the holiday of Hanukkah.
Featuring a multi-generational cast and live music by Hershel's Ostropoler Kapelye, this production runs approximately 50 minutes.
Hannah MacKenzie-Margulies is a fiscal year 2025 recipient of a Creative Individuals grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board. This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board, thanks to a legislative appropriation by the Minnesota State Legislature; and by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.
