
About this Event
Come join the Chicago Chapter of Heroes on the Water for a Fun day of Kayaking and Fishing in one of our beautiful Forest Preserves of Will County. As always, all HOW-Chicago events are free to attend for Veterans, Active Duty Service members, First Responders and their families.

Our event will run from approximately 0800-1400. Please arrive on time to receive your fishing gear, instructions and safety brief, so we can get you on the water and fishing as quickly as possible. You will be paired up with a HOW volunteer for the event. Lunch will be provided for all participants and volunteers, but you are welcome to bring your own snacks/food/drinks if you have special needs/preferences.

Please be sure to register via our Eventbrite site so we can be sure to have an accurate count!!
**If you get a ticket and cannot attend the event, PLEASE return the ticket to Eventbrite or send an email to [email protected], so someone else can have a chance to attend. Attendees who get tickets and no-show will be banned from future events. ***
- Come out and enjoy the day at beautiful Rock Run Rookery, Forest Preserve of Will County.
- A Freshwater fishing license is NOT REQUIRED if you are going to fish. (Group fishing license issued by IDNR)
- Lunch is included!
- Conveniently located off Weber Rd in Naperville, IL.
- All HOW Events are absolutely FREE!
- No ALCOHOL or DRUGS are allowed at HOW events.
- We have all the fishing gear and kayaks needed for the day.
- Please dress for the weather. There’s always a good possibility you will get wet.
- Yes, you can bring a guest; this is a family event for all participants (be sure to register them as well). We need a good count for our food and gear planning.
- This area is a gem of a place – great waterfront scenery and a wonderful fishery!
- Everyone MUST wear your personal floatation device (PFD) the entire time while you are on/in the kayak.
- Pack your sunscreen and bug spray.
- It’s a good idea to bring a lawn chair.
Volunteers, please bring your own kayaks if you have them and be on site ready to help set up at 0700hrs! If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask!
