Wednesday 5th March, 1pm to 2.30pmhttps://www.ercultureandleisure.org/events/the-life-death-of-agnes-montgomerie/
This talk takes place in Eastwood House.
A second chance to hear Tracy Harrison Butler share the story of Agnes Montgomerie of Eaglesham, who fell victim to poisoning at the hands of Peter Walker (also known as John Thomson) in 1857. Tracy investigates the events that led up to the murder and its aftermath, but also asks the question, ‘Who was Agnes Montgomerie?’ She will explore Agnes’s life and show that she more than just a victim in a court case.
Tracy is a dress historian with a background in television. She gives talks professionally and is in the process of applying to do a PhD in several areas in dress history. Tracy came across the story of Agnes Montgomerie while researching at Giffnock Heritage Centre, and we are delighted to welcome her back and offer you another chance to hear this compelling story.
