As part of Heritage Open Days, join the Bristol Archives’ team for a fascinating insight into a wealth of stories from over 900 years of the city’s past. Marvel at the miles of shelving, massive tomes and unmistakeable scent of old leather, parchment and ink.Bristol Archives care for millions of documents – written records, photographs, maps, film and sound recordings – made by and about the people of Bristol over hundreds of years. From 12th century parchment documents to 21st century digital records, we look after these stories of Bristol and make them available for everyone to view in our searchroom.
Free – please book in advance to reserve your place. There will be some slots available on arrival on the day on a first come first served basis. You can view our displays if we are busy and you need to wait for a later tour.
Tours will run at 10.30am, 11.30am, 12.30pm, 1.30pm, 2.30pm, 3.15pm. Tours last approximately 30 minutes.
