We're collaborating with Wirral Heritage Open Days to invite you to our historically rich and diverse nature reserve. Offering FREE ENTRY to Burton Mere Wetlands on Saturday 13th September 2025.Join us at Burton Mere Wetlands and explore the reserves history and the remains of an Iron Age hillfort atop Burton Point, with unrivalled views across the Dee Estuary and North Wales coast.
Our friendly and expert volunteers and staff providing information at the visitor centre and hillfort and a written history brief to take away.
This free entry open day, part of Wirral Heritage Open Days, aims to introduce new people to this remarkable landscape that is now one of the most important wetland sites in the country.
You can also enjoy refreshments at the café on the day, with fantastic views across our reserve.
No need to book, just turn up any time after 9.30am. Sturdy footwear and outdoor clothing appropriate for the weather are recommended.
Most of our paths are fully accessible for wheelchair and pushchair access, sadly Burton Point is not accessible for wheelchairs and mobility scooters. Burton Point is about a mile walk from the visitor centre, one way.
