About this Event
In its 50th year, the Marshall L. Davis, Sr. African Heritage Cultural Arts Center presents the Fifth Annual Heritage Dance Collective, a celebration of diversity, inclusion, triumph, and resilience through dance. This performance will take the audience on a journey that explores the meaning of the Akan Tribe of Ghana’s Proverb: “It is not taboo to go back and fetch what you forgot.” The performance shows how knowing history helps us understand ourselves and improve the world.
The Winds of Heritage Dance Company is thrilled to welcome back alumnus Robert Battle who will present one of his signature pieces, “The HUNT.” This performance set to thundering percussion reveals the predatory side of human nature and the primitive thrill of the hunt. The dance features an ensemble of men in an urban setting and will captivate audiences.
