About this Event

Miami Light Project’s signature commission program for Miami-based artists, Here & Now, features newly commissioned short-form work from Miami’s freshest and most exciting emerging and mid-career artists, working across disciplines to define contemporary performance in Miami. This year's presentation includes live performance by Clinton T. Harris, Diego Melgar, Nicole Pedraza & Diago León Lang, and Nina Osoria Ahmadi!

Clinton T. Harris: Bonnie Where's/Wears Clyde?

Bonnie Where’s/Wears Clyde is a conceptual performance work that explores how feminine energy is shaped, masked, and reimagined through the norms of heterosexual masculinity, with the absent “Clyde” serving as a poetic metaphor for traditional gender roles. Drawing from down-low, trans, and gay culture, the piece reflects the fluidity and complexity of gender expression and identity. It creates a space where social norms are disrupted and masculine and feminine energies converge and coexist.

Diego Melgar: SWAMP LILY

SWAMP LILY is a multidisciplinary ballet exploring the evolving relationship between the city of Miami and the marshlands it inhabits. Blending music, dance, and audio-reactive visuals, the work draws poetic parallels between urban displacement and the disruption of fragile wetland ecosystems. At its emotional core, SWAMP LILY reflects on loss, resilience, and the quiet consequences of environmental change.

Nicole Pedraza & Diago León Lang: PALITROQUE

PALITROQUE is a contemporary dance work exploring memory, nostalgia, and cultural identity through the immigrant experience of clutter. The work transforms personal history into a layered and immersive experience of diasporic reflection by incorporating family relics, 3D and 2D projected visuals, and an original sound score. As the three dancers navigate tactile and dream-like memories ranging from tenderness to anger, PALITROQUE poses questions such as “What do we carry with us? How can we leave things behind? How do we preserve meaning through objects, even when they lose function?”

Nina Osoria Ahmadi: OGETHER TOGETHER, APART APART (working title)

TOGETHER TOGETHER, APART APART (working title) is a performance work by Nina Osoria Ahmadi that explores tensions within isolation and togetherness. The piece reflects on forces of separation, and invites the audience to witness the playfulness and power found in the simple act of moving together.
