The holidays can be complicated and not everyone has a table to sit at. Come to an event where all are welcome to share some festive fun!For this December Monday Mixer we will be doing an OPTIONAL gift exchange. Gifts can be homemade, creative, Queer or regifted! If you are looking to meet new people you could also offer a fun adventure with the option of your company. Get creative!
When you arrive and hand your gift in, you’ll get a number. The closer you arrive to our 6:30pm start time, the closer to getting your choice of gift as they will be handed out in order of arrival!
The gift exchange will begin at 7:30! There will be no stealing, but if you aren’t a fit for what you got, feel free to trade after the game is over.
The entire space will be ours so there will be the usual mingling and moving around the space, getting to know new pals.
Some tips for the night:
-There will be name/pronoun tags for all- please check pronouns, don’t assume! If you have questions about why we do this, please ask.
-Please be welcoming to all, we can learn a lot from each other across age, interests & identity! This is our favorite part! This event is meant for mingling.. be prepared to welcome and talk to new people.
-If you are nervous it can be a good idea to arrive near the start, many find it harder to walk into a full room.
-You won’t be the only person arriving solo, just coming out, or anxious about attending.
-We have the space from 6:30 until 9 as this is a private event, we should settle our bills and let the staff head out at the end of the booked time. Please tip the bar staff well, they hold a great space for us!
All genders and sexual identities welcome! This space is accessible, including the single stall bathroom.
Queer liberation and understanding our part in Truth and Reconciliation for our Indigenous communities are intertwined. Colonization tried to erase the knowledge and appreciation that sexual and gender diversity has existed for all time, and the Indigenous peoples held that knowledge (and continue to). We reside on the home of the Traditional Territories of the Blackfoot Confederacy which is comprised of the the Piikani, the Siksika, Kainai as well as the Îyâxe Nakoda, Tsuut’ina nations and Métis nation of Alberta district 5 & 6. We all live on this treaty 7 land.
Please reach out if you have any questions, see you there!!
