Plants for healing and cleansing. Plants to cool the hottest temper. Some of the most widely used Ozark herbs are associated with the Moon and Venus. These plants are common to many cleansing practices in the Ozarks. In this class, we’ll look at favorites like sassafras, camphor resin, rose, yarrow, and many more. We’ll also learn techniques for traditional cleansing baths as well as create a kitchen amulet to bless your herbal work. This class series is taught by Ozark folklorist and writer Brandon Weston of Ozark Healing Traditions and is great for beginners as well as seasoned practitioners from any and all traditions.
About the Ozark Planetary Magic- Class Series:
Ozark folk healing is truly a plant-based system. In this class, we’ll explore our most beloved medicinal herbs, or “yarbs” as we call them. Learn an ancient form of herbalism based on correspondences from the seven classical planets: Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn. Learn about a variety of herbal uses and preparations from both a folk healing and magical perspective. Build your herbal repertoire with easy-to-use plants and simple recipes.
