About this Event
Join us at Fox Haven Organic Farm & Learning Center for a month-long series of engaging and educational workshops on the diverse uses and benefits of herbs! Held weekly throughout September, this workshop is designed for homeschoolers aged 11-18 to delve into the world of herbalism through hands-on activities and guided tours of our farm.
Participants will have the opportunity to harvest herbs, learn about their applications, and observe whole plants through taste, touch, and smell. This is a fantastic way to connect with nature and explore the power of plants.
The course will begin with plant identification, educating students on the uses and benefits of various herbs, such as first aid herbs and immune-boosting herbs. We'll also cover how to identify plants to avoid, like poison ivy and its look-alikes. Each session includes a garden tour and tea tasting, providing a full sensory experience.
As time allows, we will explore topics such as composting, nature journaling, and plant pressing as a fun take-home project.

Through her journey, she saw the benefit of educating others on the importance of herbs and gardening, which prompted her to embark on a lifetime career change in herbalism education with students and adults. Tamica enjoys tea blending, making salves, extracts, vegan cooking, and spending time in her garden.
