My goal for this class is for you to leave with the knowledge and confidence to craft topical herbal preparations for your family! A good three ingredient calendula salve can replace most over the counter creams in your medicine cabinet. And you know exactly how and when it was made! Crafting preparations for your family imparts a very high level of healing energy that just can't be replaced with store bought preparations. Bug bites, sunburns, dry skin and other everyday skin issues can all benefit from made with love plant remedies.Join us while we discuss plants that work extremely well in topical uses. Many of these plants are native to our area and right outside your doorstep. We will take a very short walk around the garden center and identify violet, lyre leaf sage and a few other plants that are perfect for topical uses. We will discuss topical herbal preparations such as salves, balms, lotions, poultices and steams. We will discuss how to prepare herbs for topical preparations, how to craft herbal oils, how to decide which herb and carrier oil to use, and how to craft your own bug spray. We will craft a herbal oil and salve in class and everyone will leave with a sample of oil, salve and info packet with recipes. Info packet will also include a list of reputable vendors and my recommended book list.
