About the Class:
In May the hawthorn trees blossom and the roses become thick and luscious. Both of these plants are powerful heart medicines and protectors of love. Come learn about some of the many ways to celebrate and support the physical, emotional, and spiritual heart. We will be making flower essences and heart elixirs to take home. Come with an open heart and be ready to have your senses dazzled in the garden of roses!
About the Teacher:
Sophia is an herbalist, bodyworker, full spectrum doula, and educator. She was born and raised in the East Bay, growing up with her herbalist mother and plant wise abuela in the ways of community herbalism and healing arts. The magic and medicine of plants was instilled in her at a young age. In her teens, she got the opportunity to apprentice with a local herbalist and medicine maker, Tony Seifert. She later went to the California School of Herbal Studies to further expand her knowledge and craft. She is passionate about sharing the wisdom of plants with others and takes a bioregional hyperlocal approach to herbalism. She teaches her students to connect to the plants around where they live and how to become the growers of plant medicines themselves. Teaching and mentoring is one of her greatest passions and she offers a variety of workshops, longer term courses, and apprenticeships.
