A sneak peak to celebrate the 1st woman and Black-owned beauty academy in Anacostia. Enjoy light refreshments, snacks, and a tour of the forthcoming Henderson International Academy. Founded by the beloved owner of Wanda's on 7th, Wanda Henderson invites community members to enjoy free haircuts and natural hair cornrows for youth (18 and younger).
Centered in the heart of Martin Luther King Jr Ave SE, the developing 2-story brick and mortar will be the new home for 5 new stylists and aspiring cosmetolists and barbers in the upper level where students can enroll in training, education, and hands-on experience. The future is bright for Henderson International Academy to include 2 additional floors with a retail space and incubators for the community.
