Most of the photos in Part 2 of the Clarence Swift Collection draws on photographs from early San Jacinto, Hemet, Valle-Vista, Winchester, Sage and other areas in or around our valley. A smaller portion of the photos were taken from photos donated to the Hemet Museum. Every photograph used in the presentation were part of these two collections of over 2,000 photos digitized by Dave’s dad, Gordon Sisk, in the late 1990’s. Gordon, son of the original owners of Sisk Auto Parts in Hemet, spent hundreds of hours both scanning old photographs and typing the indexes that went with each photo.
Dave Sisk was born in 1958 at Hemet Hospital. His mom, Virginia Searl Sisk, was born at a maternity house near Kimball and Harvard. Dave’s grandpa, Floyd Searl, grew up on the Searl ranch and worked six decades with his dad, brothers, and two nephews (Leonard and Jerry). Dave’s great grandparents, Oliver and Idella Searl, were married in the Winchester Methodist Church in 1892 and moved to Diamond Valley in the mid-1890’s.
