About this Event
Helping Without Hurting Seminar
What is poverty? Is it just a lack of material goods or is it deeper than that? What does the Bible say about poverty?
Join us for a Helping Without Hurting Seminar where we will tackle these very questions and more. Through short videos, small and large group discussions, and input from local ministry leaders, you will explore topics such as:
- Causes and definition of poverty from a Biblical perspective
- Four relationships that are broken in each of us and the stages of change
- When to use relief, rehabilitation, and development in ministry
- Differences between needs-based and asset-based development
This seminar is ideal for church deacons, for the benevolence team, for missions leaders, and for anyone who has a burden to bring hope to the hurting. The seminar will be facilitated by Friendship House Roanoke using the materials of When Helping Hurts (Fikkert & Corbett).
We will meet in at Parkway Church on the Mountain on Saturday, November 16, from 9 am to 2:30 pm. Lunch will be provided. Registration closes on November 14 at 12 pm.
This event is free to all thanks to the generosity of Parkway Church on the Mountain.
