Come and explore Cornwall Wildlife Trust’s Helman Tor reserve - the site of our largest ever nature recovery scheme. Kathryn from the Cornwall Wildlife Trust will be leading this walk on behalf of our Active Transport Wellness Walking group but everyone is welcome to join us :-)We will begin in Breney Common, an area once covered by mineworks, this is a stunning example of nature’s ability to heal the wounds of an industrial past. Here we will stop off at the ponds which are hugely wildlife rich and support numerous species of amphibians and reptiles. Dormice live in areas of drier woodland on the reserve, and we will hopefully find some hazelnuts which have the characteristic neat nibbles of the Hazel Dormouse. We will then walk up to Helman Tor which has spectacular views of the habitat mosaic which make these reserves so special. (photo credit Ben Watkins)
